Food plot seed planting time windows
Updated: Jun 2
It is important to understand that all seeds are not meant to be sewed at the same time. There are warm season crops and cool season ones. As you could probably guess, it is important to plant your seed at the appropriate time according to each seed‘s needs. It is also important to understand that there is not a one-size-fits-all answer as to when you should broadcast or drill your food plot seed. Rather, it is based on your location and (most importantly) your soil‘s temperature. With all of that being said, Crooked Bend put together an easy to follow guide to help you know when you should consider planting your food plot seeds. Just find the zone that you are planting in and reference the chart for the approximate planting date window. Please keep in mind that all dates are approximate and the best way to know when your plot area is ready is when your soil’s temperature is above 50 degrees. Good luck and happy plotting!
