Product Description

Crooked Bend Mema's Moo Mix farm pasture seed blend is a carefully crafted mixture of premium alfalfa, hatemate orchard grass, Timothy grass, drought and traffic resistant rye, and elite Kentucky bluegrass. This blend was created by Great Mema Lucy Magillacuddy, a true expert in the field of agriculture. Lucy grew up on a beef cattle farm in southern Tennessee and developed a deep love for farming at an early age. After earning degrees in agriculture and microbiology at a northern university, she returned home to take over the family farm. Under her guidance, the farm flourished and Lucy even had two horses running in the prestigious Kentucky Derby. In addition to her success with livestock, Lucy also received numerous national poultry awards for her innovative red hens, which laid extra large white eggs.

It was through her work with these chickens, horses, cows, and her passion for farming that Lucy developed her signature pasture seed blend, now known as Mema's Moo Mix. This blend is beloved by cows, horses, pigs, sheep, bison, whitetail deer, lambs, chickens, elk, pheasants, and turkeys due to the fact that it produces tall, fast-growing, big, sweet, and full grass. The seeds in this blend are able to germinate quickly in a variety of soil types, including rock, sand, and clay, and the grass grows best in partial shade to full sun.

To plant the seeds, you can use either no-till planting techniques or traditional farming methods such as disc, plow, harrow drag, or a pull-behind planter. The best times to sow the seeds are in the early spring, late summer, or fall, and it is recommended to cover them with straw or light mulch to protect them from birds until the roots are fully established. If you need to fill open dirt beds or overseed, you can use the Last Resort Blend. One 25-pound bag of Mema's Moo Mix will cover 0.25 acres when broadcast seeding and 0.5 acres when drilling.

Crooked Bend is a Michigan-based company that is dedicated to producing top-quality pasture seed blends for farmers and ranchers.
